* In the postwar period, the US military began development of a series of air-to-air missiles (AAM), leading to the "Falcon", "Sidewinder", and "Sparrow" AAMs, all of which were built in large quantity, with the Sidewinder still in production today. This document provides a history and description of these AAMs, as well as the "Phoenix" derivative of the Falcon, and the "AMRAAM" derivative of the Sparrow.
